Learning Access Toolkit: film transcript The film runs for two minutes and twelve seconds. Ryan, David and Erin are fictional learners, and the words are their own accounts from the toolkit. Ryan: And tomorrow I have to remember everything again. David: I knew it. That's the annoying bit. I knew it the whole time. Erin: I did know. I just thought I had more time. Those accounts happen to be from fictional learners, and are part of the content in the Learning Access Toolkit. The experiences they describe are common though, and can impact both staff and learners in any environment, becoming barriers to learning. The toolkit is designed around seven defined barriers to learning, teaching and assessment, with dedicated resources for each. Each barrier is examined, contextualised, and explained through multi-format e-learning, including narrated videos, fictional learner accounts, regular knowledge checks, and optional follow-up tasks to explore in your own setting. Accompanying that are the practical resources you, your colleagues, and your learners can use afterwards, such as self-audits, strategy cards, universal design resources, illustrative examples and templates. It supports both sides of the teaching and learning dynamic, with language pitched appropriately for each, to foster mutual understanding and offer a common vocabulary. It can also be useful to think about how reducing this barrier might have a positive effect on other people as well as the learner. That could include you, your colleagues, and learners' parents or carers. Every barrier also has its own Scene in a fully interactive game-based learning activity, set over a single day on a typical college campus. You can take the campus tour yourself to see how a shared understanding of our actions can be used to reduce the impact of these learning barriers. The Learning Access Toolkit offers a wealth of CPD opportunities, from modular core learning blocks, to countless hours of further engagement with the follow-up resources. It can be licensed to your institution at the scale you need, and delivered in the format or platform that suits you. Turn what you know about your learners into practical strategies designed to reduce barriers. Designed around neurodivergence. Of benefit to all.
